Leelanau Township Emergency Services (LTES) is the dedicated fire and rescue department serving the scenic Leelanau Township, located in the northern part of Leelanau County, Michigan. Our mission is to provide professional, compassionate, and effective emergency response to protect the lives, property, and environment of our community. We operate from a single fire station and are comprised of a team of highly-trained volunteer and part-time firefighters, medical first responders, and support personnel. Our department's service area includes a diverse landscape of residential areas, agricultural lands, and a significant portion of Lake Michigan's shoreline, as well as the unique environment of North Manitou Island and South Manitou Island. This geographic diversity presents a wide range of challenges, from structural fires and wildland incidents to water rescues and medical emergencies. Our team is equipped to handle these diverse scenarios, continuously training to maintain a high level of readiness and proficiency.

LTES is an integral part of the community fabric. We believe in proactive engagement through public education programs, community events, and partnerships with local organizations. We host fire safety workshops for schools and residents, participate in local parades, and provide valuable information on emergency preparedness. This community-first approach helps build trust and ensures that our residents are well-prepared for any potential crisis. Our services extend beyond immediate emergency response to include a range of non-emergency functions, such as fire inspections, smoke detector installations, and assistance with minor household emergencies. This holistic approach ensures we are always a reliable resource for our neighbors. We are supported by a strong network of local government, community volunteers, and a dedicated residents' association that helps fund equipment and training. This collective effort is the foundation of our strength and resilience.
